My main research, at De Montfort University, is in Local Government Leadership and Austerity.
Besides the part time duties of a local ward councillor I also serve in the executive cabinet, currently as Spokesperson for People (Achieving Potential) which covers education, youth services, adult learning and more. I have previously held a number of other cabinet posts including, Corporate services, Children, Young People and Families, Development, Environment and Culture.
I have also worked as an elected member representative regionally and nationally for the Local Government Association, taking the lead on issues around improvement and innovation, particularly data and transparency.
